The Family Jewels

I have few memories of my paternal grandmother. She died from a brain tumour when I was five, shortly after my younger brother was born. I remember she was a tiny lady even from a 5 year old perspective. She always made sure there was Ice Cream when we visited and she loved her garden. I also remember her Jewellery. I loved sneaking into her bedroom, going to the vanity table, spritzing myself with perfume which had been decanted into a proper crystal bottle, and trying on her jewellery. I loved it.
Now when she passed my grandfather being the sensible and wary man that he was, took all her items, divided them into small boxes and hid them around the house so that they would be safe and sound for when I was old enough to inherit them. Unfortunately he passed away too and we only ever found 1 box. My one remaining link to my nana.
My brother is now 20; and after years of being hidden away by my mum (although not in the way granddad did) I've finally inherited these 3 gorgeous pieces and I'm sharing them with you today.

Vintage Gold Charm Bracelet
I believe this to be the originator of my love for fans
A little Chalet that opens up to reveal hearts.
 1913 George V Gold Sovereign
Treasure chest which opens to reveal several small jewels
Ballet Shoes & Guitar (I wish I was able to get the detail from the shoes in)
I absolutely love this bracelet, and treasure it so much I don't think I could wear it for more than a few minutes for fear of damaging it. Most girls grow up with or wanting a pretty charm bracelet. This was the only one I ever wanted and strangely enough is very representative of several points in my life! Freaky.

The Rings

The picture doesn't do this ring justice. Its an 18 carat Gold Band with 3 gems (one missing). The middle gem is the most gorgeous pink. I will eventually get this re-stoned but at the moment unfortunately it doesn't fit any of my fingers well enough to warrant wearing.
Nana Dane's Engagement Ring.
Which does actually fit my engagement finger!
This is obviously very treasured and of all the tiny boxes we could have found I'm so glad we found this one. Unfortunately I don't know the Carat of this or what the stone is. I need to get them cleaned, and maybe one day appraised. Not that I'll ever sell them.
These are the definition of heirlooms for me. I hope my children appreciate them as much as I do.

Yeah yeah I know, I'm a sentimental sap aren't I?!
Bex :)

Matcha Madness: The Body Shop Matcha Tea Face Mask Review

My name is Bex and I am a mask addict! I love masks. Cream, clay, mud, peeling, sheet, cellulose, nourishing... you name it and I love it! I recently spent an evening with the amazing staff from The Body Shop Belfast learning about all their key products and celebrating their cruelty free status and at the end of the night I was very kindly gifted their Japanese Matcha Tea pollution clearing mask - I was delighted!  We all know that the world has gone Matcha crazy but beyond an occasional frappe from a well known coffee house my main experiences have been with Matcha flavour cakes from my local asian supermarket. They are seriously amazing and the lightest sponge I've ever eaten but it doesn't exactly scream "good for you". Thankfully, apart from being seriously tasty Matcha is ridiculously good for you. Traditionally brewed as a simple green tea it is packed full of antioxidants - 10 times the amount in normal green teas as you are consuming the precious groun

Ophrys Skincare

If you have been following my blogs and social media you will have seen that I am currently partnering with Therapie Clinics and trying out their range of specialist facials to try and improve my skin. Alongside the facials (my second of which is coming up in April!) I have really tried to up my game with my skin care. Rather than just slapping everything that says hydration on I am really trying to target specific areas and problems. This has not been without it's troubles as my sensitive skin tries to adjust to this higher level of care. As a result of this - and a few other internal factors - I have been experiencing a few more breakouts than normal but I have been coping with them better. It's all about the give and take. And when it comes to the 'give' I was very lucky to be approached by Ophrys Skincare to talk about their new range of low molecular hyaluronic skincare with their patented Mini-Hax particle. "Low Ma-what?" I hear you say? Well... Low
