A Worrying Trend

Do you ever look through up & coming clothing trends and feel that dread that its just not going to suit you? To be honest I get that every time a new collection is released. It takes me a long time to wait for new styles to mellow out enough to suit my plump frame. I don't mind that in all honesty. Everyone needs to learn how to work fashion to suit themselves and this is how I go about it.
Image taken from Google. I do not own this.
I used to work in nightclubs so could always see the latest looks and see the good & bad ways to wear those looks. Although it did get to the point where everyone looked exactly the same and whilst they all (mostly) looked great I honestly couldn't tell one Topshop Bodycon mini dress wearer from another Topshop Bodycon mini dress wearer.
Not that my curves would ever be caught dead squeezed into a Bodycon, this just an example.
Advice I live & die by: If you don't have a flat stomach, DON'T show it off.

But this is not why I'm writing this post. I have a major worry about the latest trends appearing on the internet. especially the heavily vintage inspired trends which in all honesty I'm in love with!

My concern?

They're ALL high necked!

Dresses all taken from Asos Curves. I do not own these.
Cleavage is most definitely not in fashion. And this is worrying for me and my ample bosom. I'm very proud of my assets and love showing them off! Guess I'm going to have to be extra clever to make sure the girls don't look like a set of squished pillows in those unforgiving high necklines.

  1. I thought this when I was flicking through a magazine in work that weekend past. I hate high necks because I feel like they are suffocating me but also because of my cupsize there is no way high necks are flattering to me :(

  4. I refuse to rock a high neck line. I can't and I won't. I think trends are something that should be taken into consideration but never obeyed. You should wear what your comfortable in and works for you. Like you said, everyone just ends up looking the same and personally I'd rather go against the grain and stand out than be another clone.

Battle of the pale bronzers: Benefit Hoola Lite vs Wet 'n Wild Reserve Your Cabana

Have I ever mentioned to you that I am pale?  Well of course I havementioned many times over the history of Faeriwood that I've been pigmentally challenged my whole life and - despite flirting with tanning every now and again -  I wholly embrace the pale. I have, however, always been a bronzing queen when it comes to my makeup. Whether I am using cream products or powders I always have felt healthier with a bit of a glow but I hate the orangey-ness of most bronzing products! It’s a catch-22 when deciding which one is more important.  For years I have been loyal to two products. Nars Multiple for a cream face (read here why I don’t believe in the term contouring for chubby cheeks) and Benefit Hoola for a powder face. Both are quite dark so they are used often but sparingly. This is why I was delighted when two new products designed for pale skin came on to the market.

Reserve Your Cabana is the best budget beauty bronzer for pale skin. Key word…

The Ordinary by The Abnormal Beauty Company (or how I dipped my toe in to Deciem)

The Ordinary by the Abnormal Beauty Company; If you haven't heard about this cult brand yet then you might not know they are hot shit right now and with their parent company, Deciem, being bought up by Estée Lauder they're only going to get bigger.   The internet has been a buzz for months now with beauty gurus far and wide raving about these high end products for low end prices. I couldn't believe it myself when I saw that there wasn't a product in the range that cost more than 8.00 quid!

So I joined the cult. I have to say that I was really impressed by the counter staff in House Of Fraser Belfast, they were friendly, knowledgeable and able to point me in the direction of the products I needed with just a short chat about my skin. I bought the Hyaluronic Acid 2% and the Niacinimide 10% Serums. If you have no idea what these mean then basically the Hyaluronic is for hydration and, whilst The Ordinary say that Niacinimide combats blemishes, I would actually say that the…

5 Autumn/Winter must have shades from Sleek Lip VIP

For a while Sleek Cosmetics have been the ones to beat for quality products with great pigmentation at great prices. Other brands may hit one or two of these points but in my opinion Sleek consistently hits them all.
In the past I've been a fan of their Pout Paint and their Matte Me lip laquers but oddly enough I've never dipped in to their actual lipsticks! More fool me.
I received this set of Sleek Lip VIP semi matte lipsticks at the Sleek Blogger Brunch I attended a few weeks ago (here's where I plug my snapchat again) those of watching my @Faeribex snaps will have seen what a fab day it was.

First impressions are positive. The colours are bang on trend for the upcoming Autumn/Winter seasons and there's a nice mix of girly, vampy, vintage and just plain gorgeous.  They apply feeling creamy and set to that semi matte finish slightly paler than when first applied.  For a full days wear I reapplied 3 or 4 times. Mealtimes will definitely do damage but I've yet to fi…
