IMATS London 2013 Haul featuring Nars, Crown Brush UK, OCC & more!

Hello Lovelies!!

And how are we this fine day? I'll be honest with you I'm completely shattered but it's all been worth it as I had an amazing time at IMATS this weekend. I'll be posting some photos of the show itself shortly (I need to wait first of all to see which photos are chosen for the Irish News article Bexberry is writing - Sounds quite fancy doesn't it!) but before then I thought I'd show you the important stuff... My Haul!!

As you may have seen from my Instagram I went a little brush crazy with a total of 10 brushes! First up and top of my shopping list was the Louise Young foundation brush, Bex had picked it up last year and has raved about it ever since. And since learning that stipple brushes actually aggravate dry skin and cause it to flake (!!!) I was on the hunt for a new brush and this was it. Have to say 3 days in & I'm loving it. Already I notice a difference in the longevity of my foundation just from this one brush! Next up were the following Zoeva brushes which we picked up excitedly thinking they were Sigma brushes (well they were sat in the Sigma stand under a sign saying "Sigma"... you can't blame us really). Mistakes can often pay off however as the 227 is a fab dupe of the MAC 217, it is super soft & less than a fiver. Can't be bad to that!

Next on my "brush need" list was a new face brush for my setting powder, off I trotted to Crown Brush UK & below you can see I picked not only 2 new face brushes but a few friends as well. I'm going to have to remind myself that I'm not a Make Up Artist who needs loads of brushes, but a civilian with only one face! Who am I kidding these are all essential... *echem*

My final "vital" shopping list item (but not my final purchase...) was this Embryolisse Concentrated Moisturiser. You may remember that back during an NYC/Rimmel event the lovely Paddy McGurgan took pity on my horrific dry skin and offered some samples from his store. Well I haven't looked back and as soon as I saw that they were exhibiting I knew I had to make a pit stop.

Which brings us to the non essentials.

Heading back to the Love Makeup booth Bex suddenly got very excited as she spotted Lime Crime Velvetines. Compared to her MUA status I'm a relative novice but eager enthusiast so I've learnt that if she gets excited about something then I need to get excited about that something. And so we both snapped this up. Having seen it in action it is something to be believed and I can't wait to do a full review!
An OCC lip tar (oh how I miss last year when no one knew who OCC were and they were selling at 3 for £10... £12 is just too steep to buy more than 1 especially as I have since learned that they're selling at Selfridges Cheaper!)

A Stargazer Lip Tattoo - Only £1 or something and with Belfast Pride next week I'm pretty sure I can do something with this!

And my piece de resistance! ALL OF THE NARS! Now those of a faint disposition may cry at the thought of how much this would retail normally, the Multiple alone is £30 on their website, but ladies I got all of this for a shocking £20. I originally lifted a set for Michelle as a Birthday present  (they had handily organised a range of 3 looks with the items inside so keep an eye out when I try to recreate said look soon!) but it was such a bargain I snapped up another set for myself!

So thats my Haul! I think I did quite well this year and can't wait to get stuck in to my goodies and tell you how I get on!

Were you at IMATS this year? What were your favourite bargains?
Bex

  1. I went and LOVED nars! I do wish I went last year for the OCC lip tars if they were that cheap!

Budget Beauty Brushes: are they really worth it?

I know what you're thinking. A second bargain beauty post in a row? Maybe switch it up eh? Ummmm nope. I love my premium makeup items, I really do. But I love finding a bargain beauty buy just as much, if not more.

Today I'm talking brushes. There seems to be an incredible range of brushes out there at the minute. Whether it's high end, mid range, or budget, there is something for everyone and there is usually a dupe (or shall we just call them copies?)
Today I'm looking at budget brushes including one of those infamous copies.

Unbranded EBay Brushes 7 piece set for 5.69

An obvious replica of the Real Techniques Precious Metal brushes and at first glance the only difference is that these don't have RT stamped on the side. The design, the colours, the shapes are exactly the same! I've never used the real Real Techniques ones but I'd have to say if I spent £30 or more on these I'd be hugely disappointed. Having only spent a fiver I'm really chuffed. The…

Calm by Ciara Moore: 5 reasons to get Calm.

When I was offered the chance to visit Calm Massage and Beauty in Randalstown, it came at exactly the right time. I was smack bang in the middle of a series of stressful and invasive hospital appointments and I needed some calm in my life. It sounds trite but it’s true.

Honestly I’m so glad I went. Ciara herself is so lovely and I loved the atmosphere in the small two room salon, situated on Randalstown Main Street, just half an hour outside Belfast. Here are a few reasons to make the trip.
Ciara herself We chatted for quite a while after my appointment was finished and I loved how enthusiastic Ciara was about doing the best for her clients. Whether it was choosing products that she really believed in, supporting other female led businesses around Northern Ireland, training in services that could potentially be life changing - more on that later - She has great hands and a great heart too.

obsession? or Collection?

Just before Christmas my best friend Gayle was expressing her shopping woes when it came to my present. Know my love for Barry M she wanted to get me some but was scared as she didn't know what I already had! So she asked me to blog my collection for future reference.
CRINGE!!!
Dare I reveal the entirety of my obsession? Because, lets face it, I can pretty it up by saying I'm collecting but I'm plain ole obsessed and everyone knows it! So here goes...

So there it is, a close up of my ever expanding "collection". Or at least the ones I have with me in Belfast. I have more in storage & sneaky order from Cult Nails (treatments rather than new colours as much as it pained me not to indulge) on the way.
I think I need help. Any NPAA* groups in belfast?

**No this not a real OPI, for starters the real That's Berry Darling is pink! Its was cheap off eBay & was the only polish on there that was the exact shade of Yellow that I…
