Yo!Sushi A Taste Of Tokyo menu Review

As mentioned in my previous post I was invited to try the new This Is Tokyo menu in Yo!Sushi Belfast last week. I love sushi. I also love Yo!Sushi as a restaurant so of course I jumped at the opportunity confident that I could avoid aggravating my IBD and causing flair up.

The menu itself features a mix of modern street food and traditional Japanese cuisine all found in Tokyo and part of an effort for the popular sushi chain to go back to its roots. This is the biggest menu change in Yo!Sushi history and it absolutely pays off whilst still being completely recognisable as Yo!Sushi food. The less westernised menu features items like sweet shrimp sushi (Ama Ebi Sushi) which, unlike their standard and much loved Prawn Nigiri, is raw. This along with the addition of poached octopus (Tako) is not for the faint hearted. However the sight of crispy chicken wings (Teba no Karaage), potato salad (Potato Salada), tuna dumplings (Maguro Katsu) and various Seabass options will keep you happy. What they have added for the adventurous diner they have also catered for the more squeamish.

Things that I loved was the Clam & Enoki Miso Soup (enoki are the only mushrooms I can stomach), the Seabass (which is raw but is also available cooked as Tempura) made a nice addition to the staple Tuna and Salmon, and the deliciously sticky Pork Belly (Buta No Kakuni) barbecued to perfection. Things that I wish I could have tried was the Cabbage Pancake (Okonomiyaki) it smelled amazing and the Dynamite Roll (salmon yes. sriracha, chilli oil and onion? Lol no) but I just couldn't risk a dietary reaction. My dining buddy and frequent chaperone Sarah (because I can't go anywhere alone these days) said they were divine, her opinion is vital for you sushi sceptics as she was also one.

One thing as well that I feel I have to note is that Yo!Sushi is not all seafood and it is most definitely not all raw, a common misconception when people hear the word, Sushi. There are huge variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes as well as chicken, pork and beef dishes. Currys, soups, noodles, rice, dumplings, salads, cake... Trust me you will not go hungry in Yo!Sushi!

Can you tell it's my favourite cuisine?

Thankyou to the Yo!Sushi Belfast Manager, Laura, for the invitation and Thankyou to my friend Claire (a fellow sushi lover) from www.worldofkitsch.com for putting us in touch!

Matcha Madness: The Body Shop Matcha Tea Face Mask Review

My name is Bex and I am a mask addict! I love masks. Cream, clay, mud, peeling, sheet, cellulose, nourishing... you name it and I love it! I recently spent an evening with the amazing staff from The Body Shop Belfast learning about all their key products and celebrating their cruelty free status and at the end of the night I was very kindly gifted their Japanese Matcha Tea pollution clearing mask - I was delighted!  We all know that the world has gone Matcha crazy but beyond an occasional frappe from a well known coffee house my main experiences have been with Matcha flavour cakes from my local asian supermarket. They are seriously amazing and the lightest sponge I've ever eaten but it doesn't exactly scream "good for you". Thankfully, apart from being seriously tasty Matcha is ridiculously good for you. Traditionally brewed as a simple green tea it is packed full of antioxidants - 10 times the amount in normal green teas as you are consuming the precious groun

Ophrys Skincare

If you have been following my blogs and social media you will have seen that I am currently partnering with Therapie Clinics and trying out their range of specialist facials to try and improve my skin. Alongside the facials (my second of which is coming up in April!) I have really tried to up my game with my skin care. Rather than just slapping everything that says hydration on I am really trying to target specific areas and problems. This has not been without it's troubles as my sensitive skin tries to adjust to this higher level of care. As a result of this - and a few other internal factors - I have been experiencing a few more breakouts than normal but I have been coping with them better. It's all about the give and take. And when it comes to the 'give' I was very lucky to be approached by Ophrys Skincare to talk about their new range of low molecular hyaluronic skincare with their patented Mini-Hax particle. "Low Ma-what?" I hear you say? Well... Low
