Therapie Clinic Belfast: An Introduction and an update

It probably sounds a bit weird that I’ll be doing both introduction and update in one post but this is how I feel that this post will end up so we’ll go with it for now.

An Introduction

So who is Therapie Clinic? Therapie is the largest provider of laser hair removal in Ireland and Northern Ireland. They offer a wide range of services using brands such as Image Cosmetics, Yon Ka, and Murad in their treatments. Each treatment is tailored to the clients skin and focussed on nurturing the body and skin. And if you’re in the market for injectables? Stay away from those tanning salons and stick with the professionals!

When I was approached about the opportunity of collaboration with Therapie I was given the choice of what I thought would be suitable for myself. I have long been considering Laser Hair Removal - even going so far as to try out IPL removal in the past - and so I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to finally get it done.

After my first consultation with the wonderful girls in Therapie Belfast it became clear that contraindications from my Crohns and subsequent immunosuppressive treatments for my IBD ruled me out of Laser Hair Removal. Unfortunately I am too light sensitive and the risks were too great. I was heart broken but also comforted because in consultations with clinics in the past no one has ever mentioned that I have to be ruled out and that my health was more important.

So we changed our plan! Instead of the laser I would undergo a series of prescriptive facials, completely tailored to my skin! So I was booked in for an Image Skincare Ormedic Facial and - as this was the first time I would be using proper cosmeceutical products - sent home with some Image Intense Lightning Cleanser to help prepare my skin for the treatment.

Flash forward a few weeks - and a few more thanks to a horrific flu season - and I'm lying on the bed with the organic goodness of pineapple and papaya enzymes that make up just some of the Ormedic range and the lovely Niamh talking me my through my facial. Throughout our conversation I told her my problem areas. I have overall dry/dehydrated skin with redness alongside my cheeks and forehead, I have a couple of small hard lumps beneath the surface of my skin which never seemed to come to a head and I was beginning to suspect that they could be milia. I also tended to get horrid scaly eczema breakouts to the point where it was unbearable to touch.

I had high hopes for this peel.

An Update

I'm a few weeks between treatments now and the effects of the Ormedic peel have definitely started to kick in. The main difference in my skin now is that those super annoying hard lumps that have been bugging me for years finally came to a head and - after a couple of weeks treating the volcanic spots that resulted - have now healed. I'm a weirdo about texture and I can't begin to tell you how much of a relief it is have finally get rid of those bumps. My redness is still there and I’m still dealing with a few more hormonal breakouts but I can handle that for now.

I've eaked out the aftercare samples provided and topped up my routine with a few of my own. The Image Biomollecular Hydrating Recovery Mask has been my favourite part of the after care. I love a sheet mask and I particularly love the feel of these ones - the jelly like cellulose material really allows the mask to sink in to your skin.

On the whole I am really seeing the effects of the peel and I cannot wait to move on to the next treatment. We decided to step it up a notch with the Image Signature Peel. This will introduce my skin to the more intensive products and move towards some man-made goodness!
I'm excited!

Matcha Madness: The Body Shop Matcha Tea Face Mask Review

My name is Bex and I am a mask addict! I love masks. Cream, clay, mud, peeling, sheet, cellulose, nourishing... you name it and I love it! I recently spent an evening with the amazing staff from The Body Shop Belfast learning about all their key products and celebrating their cruelty free status and at the end of the night I was very kindly gifted their Japanese Matcha Tea pollution clearing mask - I was delighted!  We all know that the world has gone Matcha crazy but beyond an occasional frappe from a well known coffee house my main experiences have been with Matcha flavour cakes from my local asian supermarket. They are seriously amazing and the lightest sponge I've ever eaten but it doesn't exactly scream "good for you". Thankfully, apart from being seriously tasty Matcha is ridiculously good for you. Traditionally brewed as a simple green tea it is packed full of antioxidants - 10 times the amount in normal green teas as you are consuming the precious groun

Ophrys Skincare

If you have been following my blogs and social media you will have seen that I am currently partnering with Therapie Clinics and trying out their range of specialist facials to try and improve my skin. Alongside the facials (my second of which is coming up in April!) I have really tried to up my game with my skin care. Rather than just slapping everything that says hydration on I am really trying to target specific areas and problems. This has not been without it's troubles as my sensitive skin tries to adjust to this higher level of care. As a result of this - and a few other internal factors - I have been experiencing a few more breakouts than normal but I have been coping with them better. It's all about the give and take. And when it comes to the 'give' I was very lucky to be approached by Ophrys Skincare to talk about their new range of low molecular hyaluronic skincare with their patented Mini-Hax particle. "Low Ma-what?" I hear you say? Well... Low
