Image therapy from Therapie Belfast

A few months ago I was offered a course of treatments of my choice from Therapie Clinic in Belfast. I initially wanted to go for their laser hair removal but I was contraindicated out of this choice - I’m hoping that now I’m off medications this is something I can revisit - so I went with a course of prescriptive facials using Image Skincare.
Spoiler alert: I loved them.

The course was three treatments over three months - slightly longer in my case thanks to my bonkers schedule and their packed out books - and in that time I've noticed a vast improvement in the texture of my skin, a drop in pigmentation and redness, and a suppleness that I just haven’t received from other products or facials. In my first Therapie post I wrote about their Ormedic facial, an all natural service using botanical extracts; great for those who have never had a proper heavy duty facial before - like me - and those who don’t have huge problem areas but still need a bit of love.

It’s important to note that there is no right or wrong when it comes to (decent) natural or man made ingredients. There is only preference. If you don’t like synthetics then stick with the ormedic range, it's worth it, but I really don’t mind how a product is made as long it works, isn’t hugely marked up in price, and is bunny friendly (within reason but thats a different post). My next two Image signature facials - signature because they’re tailored completely to your needs - took the regime to a different level, much more intense but still very little downtime in terms of peeling and redness. I noticed a more long term result which helped during the long gaps between appointments. Pro tip: Appointments are extremely busy during evenings and weekends, if you don’t want to wait I would recommend hitting up the 9-5 slots!

I’ll be honest and say that, although I loved the Ormedic facial, the signature facials were my favourite treatments. We used pretty much the same products both times I had the Signature facelift but we increased the durations and intensity in the second treatment, if you were to opt for long term care you would see the treatments develop based on both your immediate and long term needs. I love knowing that theres a remedy for everything and that the treatments aren't following some pre-planned format for all clients.

Niamh was fab at knowing exactly what my skin needed. We started with Image Vital C cleanser - which aims to reduce redness and boost hydration but more importantly it smells amazing - and then moved on to layering different masks, including the Image Ageless Total Resurfacing Mask which is happily available to buy - not all of the products are allowed for retail - and is packed full of AHAs to help with aging and pigmentation as well as texturally resurfacing the skin too! Another vital C product we used was their enzyme mask which eats up dead skin  and contains vitamins A, C, and E; great for dry dehydrated skin and minor redness.

One of things that surprised me was the layering of each of product rather than removing each step as it finished. Slowly building up the products on my skin, working them in, letting them mingle and tingle and work their magic just that little bit more and all in only 45 minutes!

Unlike the Ormedic facial the Signature facial is much more prescriptive, much more functional, but also a lot quicker; I work in the centre of Belfast and could easily nip out on my lunch to get it done, and with minimal irritation or down time you wouldn’t feel completely ridiculous going back to the office afterwards either.

To book your free consultation just call Therapie Belfast and they will talk you through all of their treatments, whether it's facials like mine, laser hair removal or even a cheeky injectable, they will sort you out!

Matcha Madness: The Body Shop Matcha Tea Face Mask Review

My name is Bex and I am a mask addict! I love masks. Cream, clay, mud, peeling, sheet, cellulose, nourishing... you name it and I love it! I recently spent an evening with the amazing staff from The Body Shop Belfast learning about all their key products and celebrating their cruelty free status and at the end of the night I was very kindly gifted their Japanese Matcha Tea pollution clearing mask - I was delighted!  We all know that the world has gone Matcha crazy but beyond an occasional frappe from a well known coffee house my main experiences have been with Matcha flavour cakes from my local asian supermarket. They are seriously amazing and the lightest sponge I've ever eaten but it doesn't exactly scream "good for you". Thankfully, apart from being seriously tasty Matcha is ridiculously good for you. Traditionally brewed as a simple green tea it is packed full of antioxidants - 10 times the amount in normal green teas as you are consuming the precious groun

Ophrys Skincare

If you have been following my blogs and social media you will have seen that I am currently partnering with Therapie Clinics and trying out their range of specialist facials to try and improve my skin. Alongside the facials (my second of which is coming up in April!) I have really tried to up my game with my skin care. Rather than just slapping everything that says hydration on I am really trying to target specific areas and problems. This has not been without it's troubles as my sensitive skin tries to adjust to this higher level of care. As a result of this - and a few other internal factors - I have been experiencing a few more breakouts than normal but I have been coping with them better. It's all about the give and take. And when it comes to the 'give' I was very lucky to be approached by Ophrys Skincare to talk about their new range of low molecular hyaluronic skincare with their patented Mini-Hax particle. "Low Ma-what?" I hear you say? Well... Low
