Lavender Lover

Stop the presses we have here a momentous occasion! Today I bought a Nail polish that wasn't Barry M. It was in fact the absolutely gorgeous Lavender Love from Gosh's Special Edition Collection and it was just short of £5 in Superdrug.
The picture's really don't do it justice it really is the most beautiful purple I've seen in a long time. It's also the first disaster I've ever had with a nail polish. I really thought I was being clever giving myself a quick manicure before painting my nails, they were all gorgeous and soft from the Soap & Glory Hand Food I had so lovingly rubbed in. Now I'm gathering the polish has reacted with the oils in the moisturiser and the result was this...
Sorry about the quality of the photo my camera took a spasm in the kitchen and just wouldn't focus! It went all weird and holey! Not good at all. Thankfully running a bit of nail polish remover did the trick and the final result looks great!

As usual you can see with the flash on the colour goes a bit blue. A nice blue. But not true to the bottle.
It only took one coat to get this finish and I'm really happy with the result! I'll just have to remember to stick to my usual hand cream from now on during my pre-polish routine.

Stray Jewellery

Today has been a really lovely. A day which combines country driving, Boojum, Jewellery, nail polish & Ikea is a good day. My score for the day was an absolutely gorgeous ring from Stray Jewellery who've recently opened a store just opposite Muriels Wine Bar in Belfast. I've seen Stray about on twitter and know they have a store every Sunday in St George's Market but I was really excited to see the new shop which is beautifully laid out and full of amazing pieces.
My New Stray Cat
I love this ring, it's adjustable so fits just right and as you can see matches my other band perfectly! There was so much I could've bought there today that I imagine this wee kitty wont be without his companions for long!

Giveaways!

My growing obsession with my nails has led me following a few dedicated blogs to all things nails. and during these many hours reading up i've come across not one but TWO giveaways! and they're amazing so I'm going to share them.

The first one I came across was Nail Addicts Anonymous One Year anniversary giveaway. I mean its an amazing giveaway. 80 Bottles! Immensely generous. So check it out for a chance to win!

The second is from Gilded Nails who is celebrating her 500 follower mark with this great giveaway. Funnily enough whilst this giveaway has actually been going  on she has surpassed her 1000 follower mark too! Some really great polish's on offer with some actually donated by the companies and distributors themselves so definitely get on that while the actions going.

I'll try and post more offers when I find them. There seems to be something going everyday as more people get savvy to Blogs and more Blogs get successful. Who knows maybe one our wee site will be able to offer something! But for now we'll just stick to what we do best.

Hot Oil

Not of the olive variety.
This morning I tried VO5 hot oil before washing my hair, I picked it up yesterday from my second home - Boots. I was a little dubious at first because it was only £2.18 for 4 tubes of it and I was thinking "hmmmmm, but theres an intensive conditioner over there for 8 quid and it must be better?"
NO, don't got for that over priced leave in conditioner give these little beauties a try first. Pop one out of the packet and stick it in a cup/sink of hot water for 60 seconds to heat it up. While it's got its feet up with a cuppa chilling out wet your hair thoroughly. Get the tube from the hot water, pop it open and massage it into your hair. I concentrated on the ends of my hair as they are in the worst condition, then worked it through the rest of my hair.

The pack comes with strict instructions not to leave it on for more that 1 minute as it's an intensive treatment it can cause irritation of left on any longer. So I was sharpish & left it on for about 59 seconds.
You can't really notice any difference at first but when I was rinsing my hair it did feel a bit thicker. Once you have rinsed your hair wash and condition as normal.
I noticed the difference when Drying my hair, it felt thicker, fuller and not so full of split ends. (my hair is terrible for split ends, I got it cut three weeks ago and they are all more or less back. That's straightening damage for ya!)
Normally after drying and straightening I use a spray to add some shine to my hair but I was in a rush to meet and friend and forgot to put it on before leaving the flat. When I met her she commented immediately on how shiny and nice my hair looked today. RESULT. So, if you need any more proof that this is the shizzle go out and grab a box for yourself!

Rah, Rah, Ooh La La

Bare with me on this one as I have a confession... I'm not a fan of All Saints stuff. They look pretty and everything it's just (here in Leeds anyway) every second person is draped in All Saints and makes the place look like a generic mess. You can't go anywhere without girls in pouffy dresses and blokes with their tight jeans tucked into their boots. Okay so the boys in their tight jeans I don't mind so much, but I digress. Today I bought a skirt that is so on the lines of All Saints and at the same time so perfectly pretty that I've been thrown into a kind of fashion limbo.
It's made by a lovely fella, think his name was Mark, who had a stall just off Briggate this Saturday. He also has a studio down near my neck of the woods by the river, however, if you can't get to Leeds to snap up his beautiful designs you can visit the website here. He also makes menswear and does a bit of bespoke work which is also detailed on the website.
The skirt itself is a green stripe, cheesecloth material with pearl detailing. It was £35 on the stall and online it's going for £45. The sizing is 1-UK8, 2-UK10 and 3-UK12 though trying mine on it has a bit of give because the waist band is elasticated. Anywaaaaaaay have a gander....

And finally a close up of one of the pearls (trés cute)
Friggin lovely.

Konad experiments pt1

This is 2 coats of Barry M pastel yellow with a gosh matte top coat. And then the blue & White prints on top.
I used the 2 star prints off an m3 konad plate.
Its amazing the difference colour choice makes. The yellow and blue kind of reminds me of kappa tracksuit bottoms from my youth. This combo could very easily be too tacky. Thankfully I've been told it's just on the right side of spide.
I do feel like I should be wearing hooped earrings though.

Jelly Toots.

A while ago Michelle mentioned about her newfound love for Jelly Shoes and how they're a complete throwback to our childhood! Well today was the first official day I could justify wearing mine. I picked them up a couple years ago in a bargain shoe shop, possibly shoe zone.
So here they are! Excuse my awful feet lol.

Konad

Was I the only person in the world who didn't know about Konad? Maybe I have discovered a secret underground cult of nail obsessives like myself. Either way I recently discovered the plates & bought myself a set off ebay. I'm really looking forward to experimenting with them & building up my stamping skills. I will of course post my efforts here!
The colours are of course both Barry M. the base lilac is Berry 308 & the flowers are bright purple 303.

New and Official

It started out as a joke hashtag on Twitter. I was working in a club at the time & to curb my boredom I'd see a hilarious outfit and post my comments. A Fashion tip by Bex. Hence the creative title. It then moved on when my cousin Michelle also a keen commenter on things fashionable started posting using the tag aswell. It was our wee in joke. Until we thought, "Hey, why not go even further!" and so our posterous site was born.

We moved on from simple clothing commentaries to Reviews & showing off our own experimentations. I'm going to forward all of the Posterous stuff through after I've done this so you'll be able to see what we've done. We wouldn't want to lose that.

Posterous is great and I will still use it to feed through the odd post while I'm on the go and when I want to do a quick one from my phone. Michelle will also continue posting her thoughts and reviews as well so we'll try not be repetitive or seem too bi-polar.

Going Dotty

A recent 99p bargain off eBay (my favourite kind of bargain) resulted in some dotting tools to feed my creative nail urges. I got two tools in the pack both with a small & large ball point on either end.
I immediately began to experiment with what turned out to be every colour I had within reach. This resulted in the work of art you see below. Looks a bit messy but there was method in my madness and my OCD led me to have a different pattern for each colour. It lasted ages aswell!
My second attempt was a lot more uniform and satisfied 2 other urges. Pastels and Matte. I topped the pastels with the matte coat before adding the polka dots which created a great dual effect! I look forward to experimenting with my matte more.
All my coloured polishes are Barry M by the way & the Matte top coat is from Gosh. I have a slight obsession with Barry M colours. Part of it is that they're great and with a few exceptions are all long lasting. Another part goes back to my OCD and liking that all the bottles are uniform. I'm working on branching out. It's a slow process.

Just a normal Saturday

So it was a normal Saturday of shopping & stalking people in the street for me today! I'll tell you about my purchases in a later post but for now we have a distant but noteworthy man in tartan suit & orange converse, 2 chav girls with remarkably backcombed hair & a topless man ushering customers in to Hollister. Just a normal day.

Paddy Chic

So yesterday was St Patrick's Day, or what I like to call International Pretend You're Irish Day. We were out doing some Promo for the Radio Station I volunteer with & of course I had to snap a few shots. Just a couple things to note as you flick through the gallery... yes that is a guy in a tutu, and another in a kilt, and yes that is an Ood.
I'm giving special mention to this girl because she was possibly my favourite spot of the day, despite never dragging herself away from her clique long enough to get a front shot. Needless to say it was indescribably bad. Think gypsies vs vajazzle & you're almost there. If you look closely though you can see some of the best tan streaks i've ever seen! It's like she forgot the back of knees existed! Truly excellent.

SPORN!

Well, here we are the first day of March & I feel its time to crack out these babys.
First let me take you on a magical nostalgic journey.... You're back in your hometown and you are about 5 years old - pulling daisies and doing cartwheels. You can smell freshly cut grass and can hear the ice cream man coming so you get your mammy to give you 50p. But wait what's that?! The ice cream man is getting ready to drive away, the music is starting, the engine is on and he's closed the window. So you run, you try to run as fast as your little five year old legs will carry you but you can't, you know why? Because your dear wee mammy has put THESE on your feet:
You know what i'm talking about... These shoes with the white turned down ankle socks with the lovely little bows. That, my friends, is what I remember about Jelly Shoes.
Back to modern day 2011 & they're back. To be truthful I was horrified as all those images of Mr Whippy driving away came flooding back. However, I fell in love all over again walking by River Island at the weekend and spying these lovelies
Img00508-20110228-0102
Nude, bowed, fantastically pretty ballet flats - made of jelly. They remind me heavily of Vivienne Westwood shoes from last year but the best is yet to come. They are £12.99. Yes, you heard right, they are thirteen pounds and a penny change of jelly goodness on your plates of meat.
Some things I will mention is they smell a bit weird, i'm sure this will go in time. Also, if you're not a fan of toe cleavage these may not be suitable for the more conservative of tootsies.
Ps look at the sweat holes on the insides!
Michelle.
