Skin Deep

Looks like this post is going to turn into a bit of a rant! I've been troubled with psoriasis since my early teens ranging from being 100% clear (rarely), patches on my elbows and knees to full blown coverage of most of my body. Sometimes I'll feel a little down about it, usually when I have a lot of it all over my body and it's been there for a couple of months. Most of the time I'm fine with it and happily trot along life as usual. Then I see Kim Kardashian kicking off because she has a few spots of psoriasis on her leg and tummy. I get that she has to look good for a living and photoshoots are her main source of income. But come on, airbrushing in magazines isn't new and to be fair is probably done anyway. In this case she went to a shoot and they covered the psoriasis with make up - so it really wasn't that big of a deal. The reason I got a bit angry when I read this is because it makes me feel bad too. To see someone of her status feeling sh

Get your gloss on

This is the 2nd of the joint posts we were talking about and its a good'un! As many of you will know there is a rumbling in the beauty world in the form of Glossybox. I've been waiting months for mine and today the wait was over. Let me tell you I was not disappointed! I got home after a long day at work to find it perched seductively on my coffee table, I squealed and jumped around the living room and kitchen until I realised I hadn't even opened it yet! The first thing I spotted was this bright green nail enamel from Ciate. I'm already a massive fan of these nail enamels and I'm not put off at all from the Green-ness of this one, I'll happily wear it and use it for nail art of some description in the near future. The next thing I spotted was the unmissable Weleda box containing Pomegranate regenerating body oil. I love body oils and am currently using one from Nuxe (which is lovely and can be used on face, body and hair) so i'll definitely have a lot

Quick Review: W7 Silver Crackle Effects.

Quick Explanation: this is a new feature & Mostly I'll be writing them from my phone and emailing them in. Illusion shattered. So I ask you to forgive the iPhone photography, although it's gotten ALOT better since I started using the Camera+ app. Now back to the review. Design: its a crackle, it crackles. Except this one has sparkles in it! Use: you apply it in one even coat trying not to over lap if you need multiple strokes per nail. Verdict: Worth A go! I've only ever used Barry M crackles so I don't know how it compares to the more high end brands but this is pretty much the same as the Barry M versions, if not a bit easier to apply. It contains micro glitter particles which gives it a sparkle rather then the matte finish of Barry M. It's also extremely cheap at only '1.99.

Quick Review: Nair Face & Eyebrow Wax Roll-On

DESIGN: Designed for use all over the face and on eyebrows. You warm the wax in boiled water and roll it on and use the strips like a normal wax. USE: Used on my eyebrows. VERDICT: Rubbish. Not one single hair removed! Ended up tweezing as normal. Not even worth a before & after picture.

Skittles

This is what happens to a normal rainbow manicure (which was crazy enough to be honest!) when I get bored for ten minutes. I'm kind of in love with them & don't want to take it off! Here's what I used: Base Coat GOSH Nail Hardener Colours Barry M - 303 Bright Purple Nails Inc - Hyde Park Gate Barry M - 294 Cyan Blue Nails Inc - Candy Orange Nails Inc - South Molton Lane Barry M - 66 Matt White Top Coat  Seche Vite

Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser

So I bought this month's In Style magazine for the free bodyshop eyeliners & mascara. I'm such a sucker for freebies! Anyway, inside the magazine was this tinted moisturiser, I knew instantly with it being shade 3 it would be too dark for me to wear normally but I was having a bad face day so I slapped it on just to try and hide my blotchiness. It blends really well as you can see and despite being 2 shades darker than my normal tone didn't look completely ridiculous. It sort of looked if I'd suddenly developed a very dewey "two weeks in st tropez" tan over the space of our morning tea break. Sadly the moisturising factor was missing on my extremely dry skin. I had to apply some of the soap & glory body butter I carry with me to blend it a bit & moisturise my skin. And when I got home from work I had to wash it straight off as it had gone patchy. Maybe if I were to get the correct shade in this it would be something for a good skin day. It work

Winning... not

I'm in a really bad mood at the minute, today is the dreaded 12th of July and here in Northern Ireland that means Riots, Marching, and the celebration of a slaughter hundreds of years ago by King William of Orange & his army. But that's nothing new, today as I was driving home from work and fighting my way through the parade's the celebrating crowds left glass bottles on the road which burst my tyres & ruined the wheels. To which they cheered. Hiya upset Bex who can't afford to replace her wheels. (See twitter for some serious and explicit rantage) So I'm hoping that writing about something that makes me happy will cheer me up. Unfortunately I've sat here for ages and I really can't think of anything that's bringing me out of this funk. So I'm going to leave you with a video I found on YouTube last night which made me laugh. It is both really good and hilariously bad at the same time. Its a Zumba workout and is really good but if you're

Sample Addict

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a freebie whore. I'll do anything for a freebie, including spend! However being new the world of premium makeup its surprising that I haven't taken more advantage of the free samples that some brands offer. My first experience of it was the lovely girl at Benefit sending me off with loads of lovely miniatures after buying their newly released Moisture Prep. And after Michelle's last post swearing the necessity of try before you buy when it comes to foundation I thought I'd give it a go and just ask. My first cheeky attempt was Bobbi Brown, only to be told that they rarely give samples away. Gutted. Tbf there's nothing specific that I want to try from them, I really was just being cheeky and seeing if they had any freebies in. Second try was Smashbox and this time I did have a specific item in mind. I've been looking for a facial primer for a while now and tempted as I am to stick with my first love, Benefit, I've also b
