A quick check in

This is going to be very brief as I've not really got much to say other than very sorry for the lack of posts from myself recently, have not been well this week and despite having a few posts planned I've not been able to get myself to write them! It happens to us all. I'm going into hospital next week for an operation, nothing major just a routine op on my throat. well for me it's routine anyway lol. So I imagine I'll be pretty quiet then too. Michelle will be keeping us all posted with her shopping ban updates however and having just finished a very unsuccessful one myself & considering another I know how she feels! But sure its all good fun! I'm gonna leave you with a few photos from last week when I wasn't as ill as I am now. The first is a gorgeous dress I got from Asda, totally out of the norm for me in its non boobular sense. the second is my make up with said outfit and finally a picture of my messy nail art I posted on Instagram. Pre shopping ban haul

I'm going on a shopping ban as of tomorrow in a bid not just to save money, but to save me from myself. I can go into a shop to buy a pack of tissues and come out with everything but the till. So, for 1 month, till the 26th of June I shall be purchasing none of the below: Make up Skin care Hair care Clothes (including shoes and accessories) Pretty much everything I love. If Boots goes under in the coming month it may be because of me. In preparation of this I allowed myself to go out today to buy necessities, which turned into a little spree. First stop - Boots. I needed a new razor, E45 cream and a small bottle of perfume. While I was walking from the razor section to the perfume section (which is not more than 5 meters) I got collared by a lady from Clarins asking me if I wanted a mini facial. My immediate answer to this was "no" but she persisted. I HATE getting my make up taken off while I'm in public I feel insecure, horrible and spotty. I don

Barry M Lavender Hexagrams & the art of Zen

I've been known to give myself simple manicures once or twice in work (during my breaks of course) as a way of relaxing. It's like Zen meditation for me and makes those stressful days a little easier to handle. I've also been meaning to write a review of this Hexagram polish for a while. So while I calmed myself the other day I snapped a few pics along the way.  Barry M Lavender Hexagram & Berry Ice Cream 1 coat.  A you can see the Hexagrams don't go on easily, You usually have to resort to a light blobbing technique & then pushing the Hexagrams around with the brush to evenly distribute them across the nail. 2 coats. Slightly denser but still quite gappy. I left it at 2 coats as it took ages to dry & a 3rd would have made it impossible to do anything with my hands. The saving grace of this polish is that as well as the Hexagrams which are basically large squares of glitter & not as I'd hoped actually hexagonal (how raging was I realised that!) is t

Essential Therapy

Its strange to think that shopping used to be my worst nightmare. I hated it! I'm not a hunter. I really hate digging through piles of clothes to find that hidden gem. Which is probably why my wardrobe in the past was to be perfectly honest... bland! I still have issues with shopping, I still hate digging through those piles, Primark is a frightening experience for me. If its not easily seen & doesn't grab my attention from a distance I wont see it. I'm also still very picky about clothes and shoes so if it doesn't look exactly right I wont touch it. Come to think of it, I think I'm the nightmare when it comes to shopping. But every now and then I have a day when it is the easiest thing in the world. Today was that day. I had a small list of essentials that I absolutely needed, new black pumps for work, a cardigan if possible & nail polish remover. I got the shoes...  ... and a few other things too. I think my first mistake was making House of Fraser my
