5 Autumn/Winter must have shades from Sleek Lip VIP

For a while Sleek Cosmetics have been the ones to beat for quality products with great pigmentation at great prices. Other brands may hit one or two of these points but in my opinion Sleek consistently hits them all.  In the past I've been a fan of their Pout Paint and their Matte Me lip laquers but oddly enough I've never dipped in to their actual lipsticks! More fool me.  I received this set of Sleek Lip VIP semi matte lipsticks at the Sleek Blogger Brunch I attended a few weeks ago (here's where I plug my snapchat again) those of watching my @Faeribex snaps will have seen what a fab day it was.   First impressions are positive. The colours are bang on trend for the upcoming Autumn/Winter seasons and there's a nice mix of girly, vampy, vintage and just plain gorgeous.  They apply feeling creamy and set to that semi matte finish slightly paler than when first applied.  For a full days wear I reapplied 3 or 4 times. Mealtimes will definitely do

Japanese Vitamin C Essence Masks from Kosé Cosmeport

If you think of Sheet Masks you think of pretty, individually wrapped masks with a sense of luxury; and sometimes a quirky animal face printed onto it. Sheet masks, which can be quite pricey, are a treat. Even the cheap ones costing £1 or £2 per mask can add up if you're using them regularly enough. Surely there has to be a better way? This is where  Kose Clear Turn Essence Face Mask  comes in. It's a tub of 30 masks for about £12 and each mask is dispensed like a wet wipe. It's brilliant! These masks aren't here to be stockpiled and kept for special occasions. They're here to be used.  But are they any good? Well? Sort of. Unlike their expensive counterparts these aren't the 'juiciest' of masks (you know what I mean) so you don't get a tonne of extra serum.  You do get a quick boost of moisture but this isn't a mind blowing skin changing kind of moisture. This is the kind that just shows you have taken a little ext

The perfect autumn palette from Blank Canvas

Here's the thing. Ask me a year ago and couldn't have told you who Blank Canvas Cosmetics were. I don't know how but they had completely escaped my radar. Fast forward to 6 months ago and I'm obsessed, I blame this purely on Snapchat. With the rise of the Snapchat MUA (the latest breed of influencer, someone who works by doing tutorials and demoing products almost purely on Snapchat) came an introduction to new brands and new products. It's been a blessing and curse (my bank balance has taken a hard hit).  One of the products I saw being raved about was the frequently sold out Master Series Palette One,  or Master Palette for short. It is a beauty in the box. I very fussy about palettes and don't often like to buy without seeing in person but I caught a glimpse of it in real life during the Irish Beauty Show and I was sold. Unfortunately it was also sold out.  Fast forward again four  months and I finally managed to get my claws on it. Oh m

Faeriwood Kitchen: Two step Mango Icecream

If you have been following my blog for a while you'll know that I have had some serious issues with food. With the IBD diagnosis and serveral hospitalisations I had to scale back my diet in a major way. I have mostly been living on a very plain diet with no fruit, no veg, no fibre. At all. It's been a challenge given that I pretty much lived on a full fibre diet before. Gosh I miss lentils and beans.  Thankfully a visit to the dietician this week came with the good news that instead of being placed on an even more restrictive completely liquid diet I was actually doing well enough to reintroduce fibre full foods back into my diet! Amazing. I still have to be careful and take it slowly but the thought of more variety than chicken, rice and toast was a delight.  I celebrated by immediately going out and buying a fruit pot from the nearest shop.  Speaking of fruit I had some frozen fruit in the freezer which had previously been off limits. I couldn't be bother

My Month In Film: August

Each month I take you through what I've been watching and enjoying in film & television. August has been an interesting month. Suicide Squad By now you've either seen Suicide Squad or read one of the many dissections of the films. It's bad. It's really bad. It's misleadingly bad because it has some pretty good moments. Very Gifable which is as damning a fate as I could possibly think of.  Suicide squad is the epitome of style of substance. It is a film made up of slow motion sequences and montages set to a fairly decent but also vapid soundtrack. The songs are great but there's nothing clever about them. The shots are great but there's nothing clever about them. The story is... Yeah that's about as many positives as I can find for the film.  If you want a full analysis then please ask me as I'm willing to talk for hours on the subject of how bad this movie was.  To sum it up it's a confusingly vapid piece of crap with a few
