Polka hearts

Continuing the series where I showcase my work as a Nail Technician, I bring you... Polka Hearts: Instead of dots you get hearts! And maybe a few dots too

"You can never over moisturise" Wise words from the folks at Gordon's &La Roche-Posay

The other week I was invited by the lovely folk at Gordon's Chemist to their launch of La Roche-Posay in Northern Ireland. For skincare fiends La Roche-Posay is a bit of a cult brand only made better by their affordable price point but I have to admit if never tried them before. After a talk from a dermatologist who emphasised the importance of protecting your skin in every way, not just moisturising but sun protection at all times, we were able to have a nosey at some of the products and take a few home to sample! I tell you this not as some sort of boast but just to let you know that, whilst I'm still in the "testing out" phase, I am so far extremely happy! The Lipikaur Baulm is fabulous and has now made it into both my desk at work and my beside table (high praise indeed) I'm planning on picking up some of their Kerium Dry Scalp shampoo because that is my problem area right now and T-Gel just isn't cutting it! I think this coupled with

House of Fraser AW14 Press Preview

I do love the start of a new season and my chance to nosy through House Of Fraser Belfast's new offerings featuring brands such as Biba, Linea, Pied-a-Terre, Mary Portas, Untold, Vince Camuto & Label Lab. With the clothes featured here due in store in the next 6 week it really gives you a chance to plan your wish list! As always I love a good print. You may not always be a fan of every print but there's definitely a print for everyone and they add a bit of diversity to otherwise boring recurring trends. I'm a texture obsessive so beads, lace, pleats just please me. Speaking of texture. Not only is this Biba blazer shining amongst the art deco/metallic print trends, it's also quilted! Apparently quilted pieces are going to be quite popular so keep an eye out.  Statement necklines, 70s glam prints, chain mail effect & peekaboo hens are a healthy sign that Christmas party season is nearing. I may not be able to wear a dropped hem myself but

Refresher Nails

Today is the first day of a new series I'm trying out where I shall be showcasing some of my recent work as a Nail Technician. This is a really simple Mani done with Gelish on a natural nail. I think the colours remind me of a Refesher chewy sweet don't you?

Variation on a theme: new bag time!

The time has come again where I have worn my handbag down to its bare bones and need a replacement. I've been putting this off for so long that my current bag (or shall we say former) had gone from having 3 separate straps and a zip to only 1 & half straps and no zip.  Did I mention I really loved this bag? So off I trotted to the shops. I'm quite simplistic about my everyday handbag. But I'm also very fussy.  It has to be textured matte black leather... Or faux leather.  It has to be an adjustable across the body bag.  It has to close and feel secure. Safety first, Ladies! And it absolutely 100% has to be BIG. I can't stand small bags. How do you carry anything in them? Lucky for me the shops are full of exactly what I need and I went for this zippy number from New Look at £19.99.  It's great, it's big and it holds everything I need it to!  And so I'm good for another year.
