Bex's first Ombré attempt

So you've seen Michelle do Ombré before but it's something I've never tried and when my bestie, Gayle, asked me to do her nails today I thought I'd give it a go.
They're a bit clumsy but we like them! The sponge technique is a bitch to get right as they literally just absorb the polish (who'd have thunk it eh?) but heyho we'll give another go sometime. Maybe next time I'll use more contrasting colours so the fade is more distinctive.

  1. Here that's a great effort. I'm really unadventurous when it comes to nails art.

  2. The trick is using small amounts of polish and building up I've found. Like that nails all different colours!

Lush Slap Stick

I’m going through a bit of a rut. Of course “a bit of a rut” doesn’t really cover what I’m going through but let’s leave the tough stuff to my doctors and new therapists and stick with “rut” here. Anyways… it’s taken it’s toll on me, both emotionally and physically. On the rare days when I have the mindset or strength to wear makeup I hate it. My self care routine has gone the way of the poop emoji and although I wasn’t actively looking for a solution I knew that I needed something that would help hide the neglect I was doing to my skin and lessen the damage.

This was when I discovered the new Lush Slap Stick foundation. Their selling point is that their unique packaging free range of makeup helps reduce waste and is completely eco friendly. My buying point was that I could slap it on my face any which way and give it a quick blend out without looking like a toddler who discovered their mums pan stick and, with its coconut oil base and a whole blend of other oils, it would at least h…

So far I'm in love with Cupcake Queen, Halo & Caberet. My least favourite is Cutie Pie which despite 3 coats is the sheerest polish I've ever come across!!

Budget Beauty Brushes: are they really worth it?

I know what you're thinking. A second bargain beauty post in a row? Maybe switch it up eh? Ummmm nope. I love my premium makeup items, I really do. But I love finding a bargain beauty buy just as much, if not more.

Today I'm talking brushes. There seems to be an incredible range of brushes out there at the minute. Whether it's high end, mid range, or budget, there is something for everyone and there is usually a dupe (or shall we just call them copies?)
Today I'm looking at budget brushes including one of those infamous copies.

Unbranded EBay Brushes 7 piece set for 5.69

An obvious replica of the Real Techniques Precious Metal brushes and at first glance the only difference is that these don't have RT stamped on the side. The design, the colours, the shapes are exactly the same! I've never used the real Real Techniques ones but I'd have to say if I spent £30 or more on these I'd be hugely disappointed. Having only spent a fiver I'm really chuffed. The…
