New favourite item alert!

Sometimes the best things in life are unplanned and really simple. My new cardigan is definitely one of those things. I picked it up from H&M last Tuesday after coming out of work to discover mini summer had hit and my reliably big black winter coat was now punishment instead comfort.

Of course it's grey. I love grey, I find it very hard not to buy grey clothes and usually end up wearing some form it (see my Primark dark grey leggings as a firm example of this! I have repurchased these countless times!)

The long length means it's very flattering, you could easily wear this with a cute dress & leggings or some jeans & a t-shirt for an uber casual look. Oh and the best bit? It's only £7.99! Yay for not being overpriced!

I may have also got the black version. Oops!

Date Yo’ Self!

We’re only days in to February and already the Valentine’s Day hype is upon us. Every post on social media and promotional email pinging in to your inbox is full of romantic getaways, gift ideas for your other half, and over priced set menus; if you’re a commitmentphobe like myself then it can seem like you’re not part of the cool gang. Well do you know what I say to that? FUCK IT. Date yourself! Do your nails.  Get gussied up.  Shit at applying lashes? Spend an hour practicing! It’s not like there’s someone impatiently waiting and giving you side eye.  Eat your weight in holiday chocolate - am I the only one who thinks it tastes better because there’s less preservatives?  Missing your Netflix and chill? How about Netflix and Chinese takeout except probably not because it’s only Wednesday. Let’s not go too crazy! Still… You’re half way through season 4 of Weeds and Nancy’s cataclysmic relationship choices are making you feel much better about single life right now. Ok, so the chocolate is go…

Budget Beauty Brushes: are they really worth it?

I know what you're thinking. A second bargain beauty post in a row? Maybe switch it up eh? Ummmm nope. I love my premium makeup items, I really do. But I love finding a bargain beauty buy just as much, if not more.

Today I'm talking brushes. There seems to be an incredible range of brushes out there at the minute. Whether it's high end, mid range, or budget, there is something for everyone and there is usually a dupe (or shall we just call them copies?)
Today I'm looking at budget brushes including one of those infamous copies.

Unbranded EBay Brushes 7 piece set for 5.69

An obvious replica of the Real Techniques Precious Metal brushes and at first glance the only difference is that these don't have RT stamped on the side. The design, the colours, the shapes are exactly the same! I've never used the real Real Techniques ones but I'd have to say if I spent £30 or more on these I'd be hugely disappointed. Having only spent a fiver I'm really chuffed. The…

Beating the blues with #GroundDoesMondays

Monday’s used to be filled with sambucca shots and double vodbulls, now I’m partial to a chai tea latte or a caramel laiden hit caffeine. I’ve really been trying to embrace cafe culture recently. My friends will tell you that I’m always looking for an excuse to meet up for the chats over a cuppa. I am under no illusion that this is a substitute for my drinking days!
One of my favourite places to go for coffee is Ground Espresso and I’m slowly making my way through their ever expanding range of stores; the most recent of which is the new laganbank store in Lisburn where I popped in to chase away the Monday blues with my Mum.  Ground is the only place you’ll find me comfortable enough to drink a simple filter coffee. TheirLa montaña Columbian filter from Berlin, with its jammy blackcurrent notes through a chemex filter - removing all harshness from the coffee - actually suffers when you add milk and it’s only through my lessons with Ground that I can even begin to understand this. I drank…
