Ophrys Skincare

If you have been following my blogs and social media you will have seen that I am currently partnering with Therapie Clinics and trying out their range of specialist facials to try and improve my skin. Alongside the facials (my second of which is coming up in April!) I have really tried to up my game with my skin care. Rather than just slapping everything that says hydration on I am really trying to target specific areas and problems.
This has not been without it's troubles as my sensitive skin tries to adjust to this higher level of care. As a result of this - and a few other internal factors - I have been experiencing a few more breakouts than normal but I have been coping with them better. It's all about the give and take.

And when it comes to the 'give' I was very lucky to be approached by Ophrys Skincare to talk about their new range of low molecular hyaluronic skincare with their patented Mini-Hax particle. "Low Ma-what?" I hear you say? Well... Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid is the next level of Moisturising skincare... it's the stuff that actually helps! Say your skin is a golf course and you're trying to play golf with a bowling ball... ya just aint getting the ball in that hole, honey! It's the same with skincare, if you really want to penetrate the layers and get the goodness deep down in you need to have teeny tiny (low molecular) particles.

It's all very sciency.

And that's not just me being flippant. It's actual science, brought to us by actual scientists - one of whom hails from good old NI -working away in the actual hills of Switzerland on their magical molecule. They have developed what they say is the next level in low molecular and hyaluronic technology to hydrate, repair and protect our skin.  Their patented Mini-Hax.

But does it work?

Well the wonderful folks at Ophrys were extremely generous in letting me try out a big chunk of their skin care range. They even provided some of the anti-aging cream for my mum to try out. That right folks Momma D is getting in on the action and she is DELIGHTED

As I write this it’s been about 6 weeks since I began using the range. Longer than I would usually take to make my mind up on a product but - of course - didn’t I take another reaction to my meds half way through and my skin was in shreds! Typical.

So after waiting it out and double checking that it wasn't a reaction to the range itself - praise be, it wasn't - I am ready to spill the T.

I'll start off with my toughest sell. I am incredibly fussy when it comes to suncreams. I hate the white after glow from the Zinc or Titanium Oxides and the sticky feeling that most SPF's leave on my skin. Theres no getting away from the fact that the Ophrys Every Day SPF is a white based suncream, thats where the protection comes from, however I find it really wearable on my arms and legs, they feel soft not sticky and I'm looking forward to wearing it in the actual sun - which has been scarce so far this year.

When it comes to the moisturisers I began integrating the Ophrys Eye Gel and Facial Moisturiser in to my routine while Momma D tried out the Age Repair. I've tried these creams every which way I could possibly think of. The Eye Gel has an almost gluey texture which creates a barrier on top of the delicate skin and a plumping effect around the eyes - I find it best to apply at night and use a jade roller to massage the area. The facial moisturiser is just the most lovely day cream, however if you're dry like me you will definitely need to pair it with a serum. It also has this almost primer-esque quality which really allowed my makeup to stick to my skin. Hallelu!
I am really hoping to eventually pick up the Ophrys Calm Skin cream which, in addition to the Rich Body Moisturiser will help with any irritated angry phases my skin will inevitably have. Mum is completely head over heels with the Age Repair, we have both noticed a visible difference in the plumpness of her skin, with just half a pump each day she's finding that her make up is sitting better and generally feels healthier. I am under strict orders to keep her stocked up once it hits the shelves!

Lastly, If you're prone to breakouts then you will want to take a look at the anti blemish moisturiser. Now this cream is designed for oily skin types so it isn't something that I could use every day but I do dab a bit on my break out areas and I like the comfort of knowing that I won't be adding fuel to the fire when the hormones kick in. It is similar to the day cream although slightly thicker in in consistency.

Final Thoughts

It's interesting, with this being a new brand I'm super impressed at the level of technology they have put in to the range. A quick nosey around the website will reveal Tattoo creams and various levels of sun protection, cleansers (I am a complete numpty and forgot to photograph their fab facial cleanser which has pride of place in my bathroom) and skin care. For a new brand that is an impressive range to come out with. I cannot wait to see what else they come up with, my wish list would probably include a really silky serum, a balm cleanser - of course - and some kind of toner. These are the only things that I have had to supplement my routine in the past few weeks. I'm excited to see how they grow and I'm really hoping that they will be stocked in a beauty salon near me!

    1. Absolutely. As with all skincare it’s effectiveness is based on skin type but gender shouldn’t come in to that. I know that some of the team behind the range are male and they all use it haha!

"Brand New Mint In Box"

Of the ways to describe the most premium of items in your makeup collection "Brand New Mint In Box" should not be one of them. One of my most awful habits is buying makeup and then not using it and to my even greater shame it is usually with my most expensive purchases. There is an Alan Carr joke about the extortionate price of a Spanish Onion, the punchline is "when do you save an Onion for best?" This is kind of how I feel about expensive makeup. It's so pretty and so precious that if I get up the courage to actually purchase it, I'm then usually too scared to use it. The pride and shame of this habit is these two items from Dior.  The absolutely sublime Dior Skin Nude Tan highlighter which I purchased as a pre-release special edition from House Of Fraser TWO YEARS AGO has sat in box all tightly wrapped up only being shown the light to show off to my friends and family. Yes I do show off my prettiest of pretties to my friends and family...

No Halloween Costume Needed

It's become an accepted norm that once December 1st comes around the nations will don their snowflake print leggings and their novelty jumpers but so far the other seasons are lacking in their effort. Yes, Halloween is famous as being the single greatest costume day of the year but I need October to step and represent in the seasonal apparel game.  Thankfully retailers have heard my inner goth cry and have come up with some seriously cute Halloween inspired items. For those who love a slogan tee you have every variation of saying that could possibly be made by rhyming witch with bitch and if you don't say every one of with Emma Roberts' attitude then you need to watch season 3 of American Horror Story immediately!   Dressing with the seasons is clearly big money but it doesn't have to cost the world. Here are my choices of how to get into the Halloween spirit all under £30.  Boohoo Starting with my favourites because I can! I actually bought the f
